Exactly six months from today my hubby and I will set sail on another cruise!
We took a cruise to the Western Caribbean for our honeymoon, and it wasn’t until fifteen years later that we took one to the Eastern Caribbean this past Spring Break to celebrate our anniversary. As soon as we embarked, he turned to me and said, “Yeah, we’re doing this again next year, too.” We had a wonderful time, and did, from time to time in the six months since, toss out the idea of taking another one…much sooner than fifteen years from now.
It came up in conversation the other night, and on a whim, I decided to go on-line and check things out. Twenty-four hours later I had us booked on another Western Caribbean cruise, this one hitting the ports of Cozumel, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; Mahogany Bay, Honduras; and Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Cozumel and Georgetown are repeats, but by the time we cruise it will have been sixteen years since we visited, so I’m sure we’ll find something new to explore! Belize City and Mahogany Bay will be completely new to us, so adventure certainly awaits.
I’ve booked the cruise, air, and hotel for the night before. (This time around I’m not taking ANY chances with the weather and trying to make a flight out the same day the cruise departs. I was a nervous wreck for a week.) We’re sailing Carnival again (Yes, they’ve had their recent problems, but we had no difficulties and enjoyed everything about the trip.) on the ship Liberty. We’ve already checked to make sure it has some of the same and/or similar features as Glory from this year.
The countdown at the top of my cruise account says 181 days until sailing, so we have plenty time to figure out what kinds of excursions we want to do, but we’re definitely in that giddy ‘yippie-we’re-going-on-a-cruise’ stage right now. And, it will be the thought of those tropical islands, a wide expanse of ocean, and all of the fun to be had aboard ship that will give us something to look forward to through the long winter months ahead.
But it’s really too soon to be thinking about all that. And I’m really getting ahead of myself, because there’s still family vacation, a wedding, and Halloween next month, Thanksgiving the following, and of course the Christmas season soon after that to look forward to and celebrate in the meantime. So for now, I’m going to sit back and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of autumn as its beauty spreads around me, and I’ll try to keep the giddy, happy dancing to a minimum…
Until next time,
